Monument Health to host February Freeze 5k Fun Run/Walk

RAPID CITY, S.D. — On Sunday, February 20, Monument Health will hold this year’s annual February Freeze 5k Fun Run/Walk which will include a virtual element to keep participants safe while still celebrating Cardiac Rehabilitation Week.

According to a release from Monument Health, the free event begins at noon at the Old Storybook Island Shelter at 2911 Canyon Lake Dr. with registration running from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m.

Monument Health is asking participants to wear a protective face mask while at the event, when social distancing isn’t possible. Additionally, all participants must sign a race waiver and answer COVID-19 screening questions.

Former cardiac patients and hospital staff will be available to talk with prior to the race. Participants are invited to gather at the picnic shelter for snacks and prize drawings after the run/walk and virtual participants will still be eligible to enter for door prizes.

56 sponsors are offering prizes and refreshments for the event. You can also pick up a long-sleeved T-shirt for $20 the day of the event or at the Rapid City Hospital beforehand.
