Missing Yankton woman found dead in Nebraska

Foul Play Suspected

SANTEE SIOUX RESERVATION, Neb. – A missing Yankton woman was found dead in Nebraska and foul play is suspected, according to the Yankton County Sheriff’s Office. COURT DETAILS

Phyllis Hunhoff, 59, went missing Sunday night after visiting her mother’s home in Utica, about 15 minutes away from Yankton. She never made it back home and did not show up for work Monday morning.

Authorities say she was found dead inside her car Wednesday on the Santee Sioux Reservation in rural Knox County.

According to police, Hunhoff had no known medical issues.

Other agencies investigating her death include the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Nebraska State Patrol, the FBI, and the Santee Tribal Police.
