Miss Rapid City, Miss Sioux Falls win preliminary awards at Miss South Dakota Competition
Miss Sioux Falls, Margaret Samp, preliminary talent competition winner, and Miss Rapid City Carly Goodhart, Social Impact Pitch winner.
BROOKINGS, S.D. — The Miss South Dakota Competition took place Thursday night, and two took home preliminary awards.
Miss Rapid City Carly Goodhart received the $500 scholarship Social Impact Pitch award after presenting her social impact initiative, “Woman Up: Upping the Education and Access to Women’s Health.”
Miss Sioux Falls Margaret Samp won the preliminary talent competition by singing “Time To Say Goodbye,” a contemporary opera selection first recorded by Andre Bocelli. The award Samp received is a $1,000 scholarship.
The Miss South Dakota Competition continues Friday at South Dakota State University’s Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center. Another round of preliminary competition will take place Friday, June 3 at 2 p.m. CDT.
Miss South Dakota’s Outstanding Teen 2022 will be crowned at the end of the competition on Friday, and the finals for Miss South Dakota will be held Saturday night.
