Minor pinned between two cars near Exit 61, Interstate 90

RAPID CITY, S.D. – At around 1 p.m. Thursday highway patrol was dispatched to a scene where a 2006 Grand Prix had veered into a ditch. The car was going eastbound on I-90 at mile marker 61.

The scene became dangerous when, two other cars came into the picture. After highway patrol arrived on scene, the driver who is a minor, got out of her car.

Highway patrol suggested the she sit in her friend’s car while she waited for her car to be towed.

As she did that another car slid into a median nearby, as the responding trooper went to tend to that car, the minor got out of her friend’s car to get her cell phone from her own car.

When she walked over, a GMC Envoy lost control, pinning the minor between her car and the Envoy.

The minor received serious non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Monument Health.

Charges are pending for the driver of the Envoy and the incident is still under investigation.
