Minimum-security inmate placed on escape status

UPDATE (Dec. 13) – The South Dakota Department of Corrections announced that Feather is back in custody.


PENNINGTON COUNTY —  According to the South Dakota Department of Corrections, minimum-security inmate John Feather has been placed on escape status.

He failed to report to community service job site in Rapid City, Tuesday December 10. Feather is age 37, 6’3”, 180 pounds.

He is serving a 4-year, 9-month sentence for unauthorized ingestion of a controlled substance from Pennington County.

Citizens are urged to contact law enforcement immediately if they see Feather or know his whereabouts.
