Minimum-security inmate back in custody

STURGIS, S.D. — Minimum-security inmate Timothy Mitchell is back in custody.

Timothy MitchellMitchell was arrested Wednesday and is currently housed in the Meade County Jail.

He is serving two sentences for possession of a controlled substance from Butte County.

Mitchell failed to return to the Rapid City Community Work Center at the appointed time following a shift at his work release job on October 6.

Failure to return from assignment constitutes second-degree escape, a Class 5 felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
