‘Merry-go-round’ pursuit around The Rushmore Hotel

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Police went on a “merry-go-round” pursuit, following a stolen vehicle around a parking lot.

Early Thursday morning, an officer watched a Jeep Grand Cherokee make an improper turn in downtown Rapid City. When the officer tried stopping the driver, he turned into the parking lot of The Rushmore Hotel on Mount Rushmore Road. And he kept going – circling the lot several times.

When he finally stopped, police ordered the man out of the SUV and learned that it was stolen.

Police arrested 42-year-old Emerson Chasingbear of Rapid City on an existing warrant. They also charged him with possession of a stolen vehicle and failure to stop for law enforcement.
