Man who fled courthouse, went on lam for 6 months sentenced

MINOT, N.D. (AP) — A Minot man who fled the Ward County Courthouse after a judge revoked his probation and eluded authorities for six months has been sentenced to time served of about 5 ½ months.

Thirty-nine-year-old John Rude was ordered immediately detained in March 2018 after a judge sentenced him to six months in jail. But he ran out the front door of the courthouse and wasn’t arrested until September.

The Minot Daily News reports that Rude was recently sentenced to a year and a day in jail, with all of the time suspended except for the 163 days he had already served. He’ll be on probation for two years and must pay $525 in court costs.
