Man sets himself on fire outside of White House

WASHINGTON, D.C. — According to the U.S. Secret Service, a man lit himself on fire outside of the White House on Friday afternoon.

The incident happened around 3:15 p.m. ET when a man, who was operating an electric wheelchair-type scooter, lit his jacket on fire while sitting on Pennsylvania Avenue.

The Secret Service says that Uniformed Division Officers responded to the incident within moments, extinguishing the fire and providing first aid to the man.

Video captured by NBC News shows law enforcement and first responders attending to the man.

He’s was later transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities say there is no threat to President Trump at this time, who was in a meeting with the Fraternal Order of Police Executive Board in the Cabinet Room when the incident happened, according to his public schedule.

A suspicious package was also found near the man, which officials are still investigating.
