Man pronounced dead after driving through Spearfish golf course

SPEARFISH, S.D. – A 34-year-old man died Monday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 in Spearfish.

The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of family. He was the only person involved in the crash.

A Ford F-350 Super Duty pickup was eastbound on Interstate 90 when the vehicle left the roadway. The pickup traveled through the Spearfish County Club Golf Course, coming to a stop at a fence on East Colorado Boulevard near the intersection with Sandstone Hills Road.

The driver was taken by ambulance to the Spearfish hospital where he was later pronounced dead. He was not wearing a seat belt.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
