Man pleads not guilty in stabbing death of Jered Kills Enemy At Night

Rc Federal Courthousemp400 00 07 01still002RAPID CITY, S.D. — A Pine Ridge man charged with second degree murder made his first appearance in federal court on Tuesday.

30-year-old Dre Red Feather was booked into the Pennington County Jail on Monday, July 11. He’s charged with second degree murder in the death of 33-year-old Jered Kills Enemy At Night in Oglala Lakota County.

U.S. District Court documents allege that on July 8, 2022, Red Feather stabbed Kills Enemy At Night in the chest and back.

Red Feather pleaded not guilty to U.S. Magistrate Judge Daneta Wollmann, who ordered he be held in the custody of the U.S Marshals Service until his preliminary hearing on July 25, at which time his eligibility for release will be evaluated.

If convicted on the murder charge, Red Feather faces life in prison and/or a $250,000 fine, plus a fee to the Federal Crime Victims Fund and any applicable restitution.

Red Feather was also charged with a violation of supervised release following the alleged stabbing. He denied that he violated his release. If found guilty, he faces a maximum of two years in prison on that offense.
