Man identified in fatal crash east of New Underwood
NEW UNDERWOOD, S.D. — An Owanka, South Dakota man has been identified as the person who died in a one-vehicle crash east of New Underwood Wednesday morning.
76-year-old Gary Oldert was driving a 2017 Buick Envision on 171st Avenue when it crossed the center line, went into the ditch and eventually came to rest in an adjacent field.
Oldert was transported to a Rapid City hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was wearing a seat belt.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, and all information is only preliminary.
