Man gets hung up after crawling through ceiling of Rapid City business

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City man was arrested early Wednesday morning after climbing through the ceiling of a local business and falling through the tiles.

About 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, the RCPD were at a business in the 1800 block of Mount Rushmore Road investigating a report of a missing person. Police say they later observed a man enter a restroom at the business and tried to make contact.

According to a press release from the RCPD, “a length of time passed” before the officer tried to make contact with the man in the bathroom. The officers reported hearing what sounded like someone climbing through the ceiling.

After management unlocked the bathroom door and determined the man was no longer in there, a loud crash was heard in the main area of the business.

The man had fallen through the tiles but got hung up in wires.
