Man dies in UTV crash near Lead

 

Correction: The information news outlets, including NewsCenter1, received from law enforcement about the accident and the victim’s identity referred to the vehicle, a Polaris Ranger, as an ATV. Because Polaris markets the Ranger as a UTV which does have seatbelts, we have corrected this article to refer to the vehicle as a UTV.

Atv CrashLEAD, S.D. – One man is dead after the UTV he was driving rolled over Wednesday afternoon northwest of Lead.

According to preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the 2016 Polaris Ranger XP UTV was westbound in a ditch south of US Highway 14A when the driver lost control. The UTV rolled over and the driver was thrown from the vehicle.

The 59-year-old male driver who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is not being released pending notification of family members.
