Man arrested for robbing Spearfish McDonald’s

SPEARFISH, S.D. — A man has been arrested after he robbed a McDonald’s restaurant in Spearfish, which also happened to be his place of employment.

The Spearfish Police Department says 20-year-old Brandon Allen Aldrich is charged with robbery, grand theft and kidnapping.

The incident was reported at approximately 11:17 p.m. on Sunday night. Staff at the McDonald’s told police that a male with his face and head disguised came into the business holding a handgun and demanded money. He left with cash.

At around 11:42 p.m., staff from Black Hills State University observed a person fitting the description of the robber walking on campus.

Officers contacted the person, identified as Aldrich, and found items including cash, an OC Spray that resembles a handgun, and clothes consistent with what the suspect wore.
