Man arrested at Pine Ridge school after police find threatening video

PINE RIDGE, S.D. – Police arrested a man at the Red Cloud Indian School Friday after reports of threats.

According to tribal authorities, the man had posted a YouTube video showing a machete and other possible weapons.

Police arrested the man on the school campus Friday morning. They say students were not in danger, and there’s no threat to the school or to the Pine Ridge Reservation.

In a statement, the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety said they take “any threats against our schools or community very seriously and will respond to protect our homeland.”

The suspect is in custody at the Adult Correctional Facility in Pine Ridge.

The incident is being investigated by the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety, BIA Criminal Investigation and the FBI.

Police say the man had previously donated money to the school.
