Main Street Square holds annual Christmas tree lighting

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Main Street Square held the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony this evening. Community members gathered and waited for the big moment.

Every year Main Street Square decorates the downtown area with festive lights to prepare for the annual tree lighting ceremony. This year was special with a new star adorning the top of the tree and even a performance by the Black Hills Figure Skating Club before the tree lighting.

People from around the community came out and enjoyed the evening here is what some of them had to say.

“The town looks beautiful the mayor did a marvelous job as to be expected, the tree is gorgeous. Doesn’t get much better than this,” said John Sutherland.

Marcelle Herman said “We were here last year for the first time so we thought it was so much fun we’d come back. So we got to see the show and now we get to go and display our skills.”

The tree will be illuminated downtown all throughout the holiday season.
