Main Street Square fountains shut down for winter months

Will open again next spring

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The first day of October has come, and that means one of Rapid City’s downtown summertime features is closing for the season.

The fountains at Main Street Square closed for the season Monday. Soon, crews will take on the task of constructing and filling up the ice skating rink, which will be used for various community activities during the winter.

It’s slated to open on Nov. 17. The fountains will re-open next spring.
