Local woman speaks on tragedy of Notre Dame fire

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The burning of Notre Dame in Paris has affected millions across the world, even those in Rapid City.

Carolyn Linn, a partner with Linn Production in Rapid City, visited the Notre Dame three times in her life. She first visited shortly After moving to Switzerland in her 20s, immersing herself in the nearby French culture. After visiting the cathedral, Linn knew it to be one of Europe’s most iconic landmarks.

“For a lot of people, that’s one of the maybe three things they would want to see,” Linn said. “The Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, maybe the Arc de Triomphe, and the Notre Dame.”

Linn lead a group of Illinois students to Notre Dame, and took her family there when her husband was stationed in Germany.

Linn said that the intense fire that took place Tuesday is a heartbreaking loss not only to Paris, but to the world.
