Local teen recovering from head-on crash

NEW UNDERWOOD, S.D. — Monday a local teen underwent a third surgery in Denver treating injuries sustained in a head-on crash last week south of New Underwood.

Sixteen-year-old Taylor Grill was driving her brother Cade on slick roads when they collided head-on with a semi truck. Cade, 15, was able to walk away but Taylor was seriously injured and had to be flown from Rapid City to a hospital in Aurora, Colorado.

According to her mother Diana, Taylor’s left arm was amputated and she has broken bones in both legs, all requiring multiple surgeries.

Through it all Diana says Taylor has had an amazing attitude and is already talking about coming back for prom and to play volleyball.

Fundraisers have been set up for Taylor’s family. For those wishing to donate, an account has been set up at First Interstate Bank and the family also has a GoFundMe account, which can be found by clicking HERE.
