Local Olive Garden donates food to Cornerstone Rescue Mission

Thanks to the year-round Olive Garden Harvest Program.

RAPID CITY, S.D. – People at the Cornerstone Rescue Mission received some warm meals on Tuesday thanks to a food donation program from Olive Garden. On a weekly basis, the Olive Garden Harvest Program donates wholesome food to local food banks that would otherwise go to waste.

Olive Garden’s General Manager, Mike Manion, says they donate items such as soups, marinara and meat sauces, lasagna, meat and vegetables. These items have already been prepped and frozen so that they can be eaten safely by people in our community who need it throughout the year.

Lysa Allison, the executive director of the Cornerstone Rescue Mission, says they serve 500 meals a day and that the donations they receive from Olive Garden really make a difference.

Since 2006, the Rapid City Olive Garden has donated more than 52,000 pounds of food to nonprofits in the area.
