Local florist prepares for Valentine’s Day rush

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Valentine’s day is the time of year local florists get the most business.

Flowers by LeRoy in Rapid City started taking orders a couple weeks ago, but store owner Diana Halloway says Valentine’s Day is typically last minute.

While roses are traditionally the best seller, Halloway also sees tropical flower sales go up, as well as many other gifts they offer.

“Don’t want to forget the truffles,” says Halloway. “So, you get your flowers, get your truffles and then you can go out to dinner on Friday, and maybe even have Monday off.”

Halloway says last-minute shoppers need not worry — although certain flowers may sell out, there’s still many from which to choose to create something special for your Valentine.
