The funds stem from an award they received; now the coalition is paying it forward to help organizations improve the health of their communities.

Christina Prehn, the Coordinator for Live Well Black Hills, says, “We try to do various different programming in different communities, ultimately our goal is to create more opportunities for people to feel empowered to you know, eat well and to move their bodies more and to focus on their mental health and just feel better in general.”

The grants range from $500 to $2,000 and aim to bring projects to life, specifically in rural communities. The projects must fall into one or more focus areas: eat well, move more, or feel better.

Prehn says, “This creates an opportunity for those smaller projects that people may have in those smaller communities to be able to implement those projects, ya know, they may not have been able to get the funds for previously.”
