RAPID CITY, SD – The City is seeking applicants to serve on the Library Board of Trustees and Civic Center Board. Application deadline is Friday, January 18, 2019.


The Library Board of Trustees has one unexpired term vacancy to fill through December 31, 2019. The Civic Center Board has one three-year term vacancy. Interested residents should complete a Citizen Interest Application online or pick up an application in the Mayor’s Office.


Library Board members review the policies of the public libraries and assist with adoption of changes as needed. Applicants must be legal residents of Rapid City and serve as an at-large member. The Board meets the second Monday of each month at noon at the downtown library. The Board consists of seven members, including five at-large citizen representatives and a member each from the Rapid City Council and Pennington County Commission.

Civic Center Board has one three-year term vacancy. Members supervise all operations of the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, and the finances thereof, in accordance with City Ordinances and the laws of the State. Applicants must be legal residents of Rapid City. The Civic Center Board meets regularly on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month beginning at 8:15 a.m. in the Civic Center Boardroom.
