RAPID CITY, S.D. – Are you a dog person? A cat person? A hamster person? A lizard person? A bird person? What kind of pet person are you? Today is National Love Your Pet Day. So no matter what type of pet or pets you have, today is the day you give them some extra attention and love.
Pets can be amazing companions. You could take your dog on a hike with you, or bring them to the office for some pets in between answering emails. Pets can provide a sense of security and stress relief. There is nothing like cuddling up with your pet after a long day at work or school and feeling your stress melt away.
Today is a day to give back to our beloved animal friends. Give them their favorite treat. Maybe buy them a new toy to play with. Make sure they are up to date with all their vaccines. They might not like this, but it’s for the best.
Even if you don’t have a pet there are still ways to celebrate today. Visit an animal shelter and volunteer some of your time. Donate some pet food or toys. Our fuzzy friends in animal shelters need some love too.
