Legislative cracker barrel held in Deadwood

DEADWOOD, S.D. — With legislative session still in full swing, people in Deadwood went to the visitor’s center with their questions, comments, and concerns.

Saturday afternoon the Deadwood chamber hosted a legislative cracker barrel, featuring three state officials. A handful of people showed up both from Deadwood and other parts of the state. Concerns revolved around education, civil rights, and drug use.

Representatives made it clear that a major issue that they want to tackle is the meth crisis. There was also much public comment and question about hemp and CBD. Along with that, there was discussion about house bill 10-57 which would make gender altering medical care a felony, that bill was recently killed.

There will be several more cracker barrels in South Dakota as the legislative session continues into March.
