Legion Baseball: Post 320 rallies to win season opener

RAPID CITY, S.D. — After falling short of their goals last year, the Rapid City Post 320 Stars are motivated to improve this year.

The Stars kicked off a new season on Saturday by hosting the Miles City Outlaws in a doubleheader at Pete Lien Field.

Miles City jumped out 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning.

The score stayed that way until the bottom of the seventh inning.  Then Post 320’s Ian Krump hit a bases clearing triple scoring J.T. Kostenbauer and Tate Walker.

Krump later scored on a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 3-3 and send it into extra innings.

Miles City scored in the top of the eighth to retake the lead, 4-3.

So Post 320 had one more chance in the bottom of the eighth to either tie or win the game.

Orion Brenden delivered a RBI triple to right field that scored Grayson Skinner to make it 4-4.

Later on, Kostenbauer hit a grounder to the  first baseman. He threw it home but Brenden scored the game winning run.

So the Stars came from behind to win their season opener, 5-4.

Post 320 dominated the second game by defeating Miles City, 21-5.
