Late night high-speed chase ends in DUI arrest

RAPID CITY, S.D. – 12:15 a.m., Friday, police clocked a vehicle going 106 mph near the intersection of Cambell and E. Minnesota. After a short pursuit, the vehicle finally came to a stop near the intersection of E. Saint Patrick Street and Elm Street.

The driver, who was later identified as 24-year-old Jeshua Hoeft of Rapid City was ordered by police from the vehicle. It was at this time that police notice his unsteady balance and the smell of alcohol coming from his person. He was placed under arrest for DUI, Aggravated Eluding and Reckless Driving after it was determined he was too impaired to safely operate a motor vehicle.
