Keystone XL informational meeting planned in Philip

PHILIP, S.D. – An informational meeting about the Keystone XL oil pipeline will be held Tuesday night in Philip.

Haakon County Emergency Management shared on their Facebook page that the company behind the pipeline, TransCanada, is sending representatives to the area to discuss the project.

Starting at 6 p.m. at Philip’s Legion Hall, there will be a presentation and a question and answer session.

After being up for debate since the Keystone XL was proposed in 2008, the pipeline is expected to begin construction in early 2019. It would start in Alberta and end in Canada, crossing through South Dakota.
