Johnson Siding VFD snuffs out fire using new tech

JOHNSON SIDING, S.D. – A small fire in the Hills could have been a lot worse on Saturday, but thanks to a quick response, fire crews knocked it out.

The Johnson Siding Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire off of Highway 44 before 3 p.m. They were able to use their brand new Darley MaxWASP, a new firefighting truck that sprays nontoxic foam to control fires.

The vehicle is light and nimble and is perfect for fighting fires deep in the Hills.

The fire was stopped at a quarter of an acre. Its cause is unknown.
