Johnson Siding two-alarm fire, Saturday morning, still under investigation

JOHNSON SIDING, S.D. — Johnson Siding Volunteer Fire and neighboring agencies were called out early Saturday morning for report of a fire in the area.

Around 6:00 a.m., a call came in for a two alarm fire on Rimrock Road in Johnson Siding.

On the scene, a residence could be seen fully engulfed in flames specifically in the attic area of the home’s garage.

“We are volunteers in a volunteer fire service. In South Dakota there are 91.8 percent of all the volunteers and firefighters,” said Public Information Officer, Todd Tobin. “In Pennington County, we have over 500 firefighters so we are integrated into with our main career department. We work and collaborate with Rapid City so together we make a really good team.”

Crews were able to extinguish the flames, an the total time on the scene was six hours.

No injuries to report from the incident, and additional structures were damaged

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
