Johnson sentenced to 20 years for 2018 shooting death of Nathan Graham

RAPID CITY, S.D. — A murder victim’s family watching over Zoom as a teen convicted in the shooting death learned his fate in court Thursday.

19-year-old Ross Johnson was 16 at the time of the crime.

He got a total of 20 years for his two convictions, five years for Accessory to Murder and 15 for Aggravated Assault, the sentences will be served consecutively.

He did get credit for time served for each conviction, just over two-and-a-half years, so about five years total.

Back in August 2018, Rapid City Police were called to a home on East Philadelphia after a report of a man being shot.

The victim was 43-year-old Nathan Graham.

Through the investigation, Police said Johnson got in an altercation with Graham, gave a gun to 14-year-old Ronald Black Cloud, and told him to shoot Graham.
