Jewel Cave Visitor Center closed due to broken boiler

CUSTER, S.D. — The Jewel Cave Visitor Center will be closed until at least the end of this week due to a broken boiler.

With the recent cold temperatures and the absence of the functioning boiler, the interior temperature of the Visitor Center became too cold to keep open for those working in the building and for visitors.

However, the Roof and Canyons Trails will remain open during regular hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday.

Workers at Jewel Cave National Monument are working hard on a solution for the broken boiler and will announce when the Visitor Center can reopen.
