Jersey Mike’s opens door to Rapid City sub-lovers

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City’s very first Jersey Mike’s officially opened their doors to the public Wednesday, and the stream of customers started immediately.

The closest location had been in Casper, but now faithful fans have access to their subs in a location much closer to home. South Dakota’s new Jersey Mike’s is located at 1745 Eglin Street, in the Rushmore Crossing complex.

After lots of planning, hiring, and slicing, hungry customers flowed in right when the open sign turned on at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning. Eric Bendewald, General Manager, Operating Partner at Jersey Mike’s, talked about the team’s preparation as the big day approached.

“I feel like we couldn’t be in a better location,” he says. “I mean we’re expecting, you know, probably to do 750 to 1,000 sandwiches today. Yeah, we’re prepared for the masses.”

Jersey Mike’s has partnered with Black Hills Works and is holding a fundraiser for the next five days. There is a donation box inside for customers, and 5,000 sub cards were handed out in the community.

With a sub card, a $2 donation buys a regular sandwich, and these funds go directly to assisting disabled adults in the community.
