Jason Salamun will not seek re-election

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A member of the Rapid City Common Council has announced that he is not running for re-election.

Jason Salamun of Ward Three has been on the council for three years. He says he knows this announcement is rather early, but he wants to give anyone interested in the post to know his plans ahead of time.

“I’m going to miss serving on city council,” said Salamun before Monday’s council meeting. “The reason I’m not running again is preparation for the future. This doesn’t mean I’m done; I’m just getting started.”

Salamun hopes potential candidates will take time to study the issues, meet with key people, and become familiar with what it takes to serve on the council.

His term is up in the summer of 2019.
