Jason Salamun announces run for Ward 3 City Council seat

RAPID CITY, S.D. — A former Rapid City Council member has announced his intention to run for the City Council seat for Ward 3 in the 2020 election on June 2.

Jason Salamun was elected to serve on the Rapid City Common Council from 2016-2019, where he was elected as City Council President. In his time, Salamun worked with his fellow council members to advance efforts like Ascent Innovation, Elevate Rapid City and the new Civic Center Arena.

Salamun says that he hopes to return to public service to promote economic growth and strengthen city services. Salamun looks back fondly at his time serving on the council, and said “quite frankly, I did not want my public service to end. This past year, I’ve had overwhelming support from family, neighbors, and community leaders to stay engaged in public service.”
