Interstate 90 westbound on-ramp at LaCrosse St. to close temporarily
RAPID CITY, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Transportation has announced that the Interstate 90 westbound on-ramp at Exit 59 (North LaCrosse Street) will close temporarily beginning Wednesday, May 26 at 9 a.m.
Westbound motorists are asked to follow detours and use Exit 58 at Haines Avenue as an alternate route. Drivers and pedestrians should also be aware of construction workers and equipment in the area.
The closure will be in effect through August 31, 2021, and is in place due to increased safety concerns because of traffic stopping on both the ramp and the Interstate.
This is the first phase of a two-year project to add the necessary auxiliary lanes on I-90 and to reconstruct the interchange at Exit 59. The overall completion date of this project is set for June 2023.
