Inmate Matthew Richard placed on escape status

RAPID CITY, S.D.- Minimum-security inmate Matthew Richard has been placed on escape status.

Richard left his community service work site in Rapid City without authorization Friday morning.

Richard, age 18, is serving a 10-year sentence from Pennington County for 2nd degree robbery. He is 6-feet-1 inch tall and weighs approximately 160 pounds. He has black hair, and brown eyes.

Failure to return following assignment constitutes second-degree escape, a Class 5 felony punishable by a maximum of 5 years in prison.
