Inmate Keith Apple in custody after November 2020 escape

Inmatekeithapple (1)RAPID CITY, S.D. — A minimum-security inmate placed on escape status November 7, 2020, is now back in custody.

Keith Apple was arrested in Rapid City June 1 after leaving the Rapid City Community Work Center without authorization last fall.

Leaving a non-secure correctional facility without authorization is classified as a second-degree Escape, a Class 5 felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

Apple is serving two concurrent five-year sentences with two years suspended on each for Unauthorized Ingestion of a Controlled Substance.
