I-90 and LaCrosse Street to begin construction
RAPID CITY, S.D. – Sunday at 9:00 pm, a week-long night-time closure of a portion of I-90 at the Lacrosse Street exit, which is exit 59, goes into effect.
This will allow crews to install new girders on the eastern side of the Lacrosse Street bridge, with the Department of Transportation bringing the state’s first Diverging Diamond Interchange to Rapid City.
Drivers are urged to take precautions if they are heading through the area during work times.
“If their normal path is traveling down Lacrosse Street, they should allow extra time for their travel, their commute to work,” DOT Project Engineer Brenda Flottmeyer said. “Because of the way that the detours are set up, they are going to be detoured out to exit 60 and over to Haines Avenue.”
Signs will help guide drivers through the area for the safety of everyone on the road, and especially the work crews.
