Hundreds gather for outdoor youth banquet

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Hundreds of young outdoor enthusiasts and their families gathered in Rapid City on Saturday for the annual Black Hills Wildlife Banquet.

South Dakota Youth Hunting Adventures holds the banquet at the civic center every year.

The nonprofit encourages kids to hike, fish, hunt or just about anything that helps connect them with the beauty of the Black Hills.

Congressman Dusty Johnson was also in attendance to encourage kids to spend more time outside.

“Tonight is really about making sure that they can also be connected with one another with the world,” said Johnson. “Walking through a field, putting bait on a hook, getting away from the cell phones. The more access young people have to the outdoors, the better adults they’re going to be.”
