HS Baseball: RC Central opens the season with a win over Douglas

RAPID CITY, S.D. — It’s that time of year again.

The high school baseball season kicked off on Tuesday night with Rapid City Central taking on the Douglas Patriots.

The Cobblers put up five runs in the fifth inning and easily dispatched the Patriots, 12-1.

Mitch Sand was outstanding on the mound for Central. He went five innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out 12 and walking zero.

Trey Brandhagen led the way at the plate for the Cobblers, going 1-of-4 with two RBIs. Mason Richards also finished with one hit and two RBIs.

Trent Outka scored the only run for Douglas.

Rapid City Central returns to action on Saturday, March 30 with a doubleheader against Campbell County in Gillette, Wyoming. Then the Cobblers will host Mitchell on March 31 at 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Douglas Patriots will travel to Sturgis on Wednesday, March 27 for a game against the Scoopers at 5 p.m.
