Hot Rods for Hatcheries Car Show raises funds for D.C. Booth Fish Hatchery

The goal of the car show was to raise over $2,000.

SPEARFISH, S.D. — You wouldn’t normally use something like fish and cars in the same sentence, usually.

But the two items went hand-in-hand Saturday in Spearfish at the DC Booth Fish Hatchery to raise money for the free family attraction.

Through the Hot Rods for Hatcheries Car Show, many locals brought their best out for the public. At the show, there were about 70 classic cars.

The show was originally organized by Sidney Olson, who put it together four years ago while she attended Black Hills State University. This year, she’s trying to surpass last year’s goal of raising $2,000.

“I think it’s just an amazing space that we have in Spearfish that is a free family attraction,” Olson said. “I’m a mom. I have a couple of kids and just having somewhere like this to go to and be able to just do something free, when people come to visit, it’s the first place I take them.”

Winners of the car show, including the top three crowd favorite cars, received hardware courtesy of Randy and Sons Welding.
