Horseback Riding 101

There are so many exciting and unique things to do in the Black Hills no matter the season. In our new series “Into the Hills,” NewsCenter1’s Samantha Chadwell is learning the basics of horseback riding at Hart Ranch.

RAPID CITY, S.D. – If you’re looking for something different for the kids to do this summer, Hart Ranch off Highway-16 is a great place for them to spend a couple days a week learning how to be around horses.

At the Hart Ranch “Cowpoke Camp” anyone 10 years or older can learn how to care for horses and then how to properly ride them. Not only that, but there are also some unique arts and crafts that they get to participate in. This camp teaches kids a lot about the hard work that sometimes comes before having fun.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the staff at Hart Ranch is always making certain that your kids are safe and that everyone is doing their best to follow CDC guidelines. Terry Rangel with Hart Ranch says, “The upmost safety is the kids. We are always not far from them when they’re doing any kind of activity. And then the horse of course. And then we want them to leave with a memorable lifetime experience.”

So if you or your kids are interested in visiting Hart Ranch for this camp or any of the other exciting events and activities that they have to offer for adults as well, then be sure to click here.
