Hill City Volunteer Fire Department responds to single alarm structure fire

HILL CITY, S.D. – The Hill City Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire at 11880 McVey Road in Pennington County Tuesday a little after 3 a.m.

First arriving firefighters found a fire burning with heavy smoke conditions in the attic of the home.

Firefighters were able to stop the spread of flames to nearby buildings.

The home received moderate to heavy damage, according to the Pennington County Fire Service. Temperatures of 10-15 degrees Fahrenheit and winds steady at 12–15 mph were recorded.

No injuries to civilians, domestic animals or firefighters were reported. Occupants of the home will be staying with relatives.
