Hill City celebrates Girlfriends’ Weekend

HILL CITY, S.D. — The ninth annual Girls’ Weekend is being held in Hill City. The town came up with the concept to help keep tourism alive during what would normally be off-season, as the area works to draw visitors year-round.

This weekend, businesses offer discounts and sponsor fun female-friendly events, giving women a chance to escape and enjoy each others’ company.

Lorena Freis, Co-owner of The Farmer’s Daughter, talked about the business this weekend brings.

“I mean, to see all of the women that come out and have a good time and just laugh and enjoy each others’ company while they shop and eat and dine, it’s a beautiful thing,” she says.

Some special festivities are already in the works for next year’s Girls’ Weekend, since it’ll be the tenth anniversary.
