High School track season off and running with Comet Classic Invitational

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The spring high school sports season kicked off Friday with the first track and field meet in the Black Hills.

The Comet Classic Invitational Track Meet was held at Rapid City Christian.

The track meet featured hundreds of athletes from 13 different schools.

Girls 100 Meter Hurdles – Jaylen Nachtigall, Hot Springs, 1st place     17.11 seconds

Boys 110 Meter Hurdles – Mikael Grace, Custer, 1st                   16.01 seconds

Girls Long Jump – Mataya Ward, Belle Fourche, 1st                16 feet and half an inch

Boys High Jump – Mikael Grace, Custer, 1st           6 feet

Girls 100 Meter Dash –  Meredith Ramaker, Hot Springs, 3rd             13.89 seconds

Boys 100 Meter Dash – Blake Boyster, Custer    * Won the final heat. But no official time due to a timing system issue.

Girls Pole Vault – Josey Wahlstrom, Custer, 1st           9 feet, 6 inches
