High School Football Playoffs continue on Thursday

RAPID CITY, S.D. – As teams advance in the high school football playoffs, each round gets a little bit tougher.

St. Thomas More finds itself in that situation this week.

After opening the playoffs with a convincing 37 point win over Redfield, the Cavaliers now face the No. 3 seed in Class 11B.

The Cavaliers will hit the road on Thursday to take on the Mobridge-Pollock Tigers.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 4:30 p.m. MT.

St. Thomas More enters the quarterfinals with a 7-1 record, while Mobridge-Pollock is a perfect 8-0.

The Cavaliers average 34 points per game while giving up 8 points per contest.

On the other hand, the Tigers have outscored their opponents 48-6.

STM head coach Wayne Sullivan understands it will be tough challenge to try and upset the Tigers.

“The (Mobridge-Pollock) quarterback can run very well and so he’s a dual threat, STM football coach Wayne Sullivan said. “They’ve got some bigs up front that control the line of scrimmage as evident, like I said, I think their closest game was 22 points. So they’re very talented. They’re very fast. We’re going to have to do the little things. We’re going to have to tackle. We’re going to have to block to the whistle. And again, can’t afford any small mistakes that stall any of our drives.”
