High School Baseball: Sturgis stays perfect with win over Lead-Deadwood

STURGIS, S.D. –  The Sturgis Scoopers opened the high school baseball season on March 27 with a convincing win over the Douglas Patriots,  9-2.

The Scoopers returned to action on Thursday night as they hosted the Lead-Deadwood Golddiggers.

Sturgis scored four runs in the first inning and went on to beat Lead-Deadwood, 11-1. Colton Cruickshank was outstanding on the mound for the Scoopers.

The Scoopers will try and stay perfect on the season as they host Pierre on Friday night in a doubleheader at Strong Field starting at 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, Lead-Deadwood will travel to Hot Springs to take on the Bison on Tuesday, April 9.
