Here’s why Ford is recalling more than half a million SUVs in the U.S.
Ford has recalled more than half a million SUVs in the U.S. because of a potential fire risk. The fuel injector under the hood could crack in Ford Escapes from 2022 through 2023, and Ford Bronco Sports from 2021 through 2023.
If that happens, fuel could leak over hot parts and start a fire.
Ford says it is aware of 20 fires that seem to be related to this issue. The company is telling owners to bring their cars to dealerships for a software update.
It will detect a possible cracked injector, and tell drivers to pull over and call for service. Some of these same cars were also involved in an earlier recall, because of a fire risk.
